In January of 2018, Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway a JP Morgan Chase announced that they will enter into a joint venture to provide better healthcare for their million plus employees. Their main goal is to increase patient satisfaction while decreasing costs. This initiative, if successful, could potentially scale to the over 150 million individuals that receive health insurance through their employer. 


Healthcare as an industry has been re-configuring itself this past year beyond Amazon, JP Morgan and Berkshire’s announcement. Cigna announcing a deal to merge with Express Scripts is paving the way for CVS to move ahead and acquire Aetna, which will transform the experience within its stores and MinuteClinics. Further changes in technology such as voice and telehealth are also affecting the way patients engage with their healthcare providers. Not to mention, Apple’s interest in health monitoring, tracking and interest in the electronic medical record space. 


The 2019 Spring Conference will be returning to the beautiful Omni Providence Hotel, just a short walk from the banks of this historic Providence river. It was here that Roger Williams established the first settlement and along its waters, ships engaged in trade, and all manner of commerce, shaping and influencing the way we do business today, much like these Change Agents are presently doing to the healthcare industry, thus inspiring this year’s NESHCo Spring Conference theme.


We will focus on these new change agents and how they will influence the way we do business daily featuring national speakers like Jared Johnson, a #DigitalHealth Top 100 Influencer, sharing his knowledge on Pivoting Your Skill Set to Create Brand Relevance and four rounds of breakout sessions, with a variety of topics ranging from emerging technologies such as chatbots, block chain and voice, to patient engagement with Generation X, NESHCo’ s Spring Conference will have a variety of speakers that will provide you with takeaways to help navigate the ever-changing waters that is modern healthcare. We have also added an additional pre-conference workshop. These two workshops are designed to provide you with actionable learning that you can use to help you be a better marketer in this changing healthcare landscape.


 We will kick off our 2019 conference at the casually elegant Café Nuovo, on Providence's famed Riverwalk, where attendees will dine on dishes artfully presented along with commanding views of the new Providence skyline. Conference attendees will also be treated to a classic Venetian experience, taking a voyage into the heart of the Renaissance City via authentic Venetian gondolas, while the gondoliers show off their amazing skills on the water, pointing out the sights and sounds of the city. The next night, attendees will attend the annual Lamplighter awards dinner gala, honoring excellence in healthcare communications.
